Otro update

Blood pressure =110/60. I am doing well! Jacob's heart rate was in the high 150s today too! We got ourselves a strong kid on our hands.

Also, there is a website called www.piratebabyclothes.com. FYI

Alas, I must be off to work on my comprehensive exam!

BLOOD PRESSURE!

My blood pressure is normal! It was 120/72 today! Yeah yeah yeah!

Jacob is awesome too. His heart rate is in the mid 140s, and he loves the Footloose soundtrack. He dances to it, and it is fun for me. I was hoping it was a musical thing, but no similar reaction occured to the Wicked soundtrack. Que triste.

School started this week. Already, I feel burnt out. I haven't done any work, but I am so preoccupied by the pregnancy, that I find it super difficult to do work. I better get it done before Jacob arrives! I have a feeling it will be even more difficult to complete after he exits my womb.

I also suppose I am experiencing this nesting thing because it makes me so upset when the apartment is messy (which is all the time). I clean it like 5 times a week. That is not me.

Well, wish me luck! This semester is going to be an interesting one! Also, wish my Mammaw luck-she fainted this week and fell and hurt her face. We love you, Mammaw!

One last thing...the baby showers are in two days. Both of them. They are an hour apart! What a tiring day Sunday will be! It will be fun though.

Mas y mas y mas

Apparently babies like ribs. I mean, I get as much of a kick out of knocking someone else in the ribs as the next guy, but come on! Oh well. It is supposed to be sweet. That's what James says. He says, "It's not his fault. Don't get mad" when I tell Jacob (in a loving voice) that I am planning on kicking him in the ribs when he exits. I asked my mom if I should feel bad about getting frustrated with the constant motion, especially since it is healthy. She said, "If you didn't, you wouldn't be you". I don't know if that should have been offensive, but I laughed. She is right.

So we went home for Christmas, and I suppose that is from where I will draw the majority of the "Hey, Steph is pregnant" photos. Please enjoy them here. The second photo on the left is a great photo of my sister trying to make me look as large as possible. I think that she was successful.

Latest Dr. report: My blood pressure is rising, and if they get a reading that is 5 points higher than the last one, I have to go on bed rest. That should make this last semester of grad school wonderful. I told the doctor that it wasn't an option, and she told me that the other option is death. I guess it is an option after all. Still, I went and got my blood pressure taken again on Sunday, and it had dropped a full 20 points. I think it was high because I just saw my weight when they took it. Remember how I don't like gaining weight? Well, it was all I could do to not break down in front of the doctor again.

Jacobito update

Jacobito is not so ito as of late. Can anyone say weight gain? I can. It's not fun. The doctor said, "You have gained 1 gazillion pounds" (admittedly, this quote is hyperbole). I cried. She didn't know that I don't like gaining weight.

That being said, he is apparently the boy with the heart of a girl...Literally, he has a really strong heart beat (about 150 beats per minute) for a boy. I knew I would get my girl somehow!

Last week, I received the best gifts! We got a little track suit and a jersey for him from Bob, James' friend at work. Also, since said gifts support the Broncos, without whom I would be eternally lost, the glee that I felt at the reception of the gift is compounded at an exponential rate (I like polysyllabic words).

Lumsden would be proud

My last semester of undergrad, I was taking my capstone course in mass communications and had to keep a weekly blog. Linda Lumsden, my favorite mass comm teacher (and everyone else's too), was the seed that brought the blog to life. Now, since people keep bugging me for pictures related to the pregnancy (though I fear it is to laugh at how large I am getting/have already become =) ), I decided to post said information here so that you all can get everything without me posting on the great facebook.
UPDATE: Jacob and I went to the hospital on Saturday due to a little spotting, and everything is more than fine! He actually has an incredibly strong heart for a little boy. 150+ beats a minute! Also, we continued training for the 5k today by elypticizing (I am aware that I made up this word) for about 3 miles in a little under 30 minutes. Turkey lovers, beware! On Thanksgiving, I will win that 5k! (I won't but, hey, that is nice to think about).
